Casa Lienzo is nestled within the vibrant and eclectic neighborhood of Mexico City’s Hipódromo Condesa. Close to the Patriotismo Metro station.
Our On-Site Program is set up, and priced for individuals. If you’re taking part in the Off-Site version of the residency and have your own accommodations they’re welcome to come along on any outings though.
No. Please don’t. We have a super friendly cat that lives here, and although he gets along with many dogs, occasionally he gets upset and tries to scratch them. We don’t want any animals to get hurt, or potential nose issues for the other guests.
At the house we have a shared studio space with things like: a pottery wheel, a sewing machine, a small vinyl cutter, easels, fabrics, handheld things (paintbrushes, paint, markers, pastels, etc.). We have a bunch of tables that can be set up as needed, and we have tools like handsaws, power drills, stapleguns, hammers, etc.
If you need more complex stuff like welding gear, a kiln, plasma cutters, glass making facilities, etc. We have a partnership with nearby workshops who offer affordable day rates, and we can happily make those introductions. We also know a bunch of artists who may lend equipment to work outside on our rooftop, or possibly even at their studios.
Currently we’re set up to have 4 spaces On-Site, and have capped the Off-Site spaces to 2 so that we have a manageable group size overall.
Flying into Mexico City International Airport Benito Juárez (MEX) it’s quite easy to get here.
Option 1: Fastest is to call an Uber from the airport. It’s a reasonable price, and takes about 25min. Sometimes there are protests against Uber and they block them from going into the pickup area. If that happens, just walk across the footbridge to where Camino Real Hotel is and call one from there.
Option 2: Take the Metro. If you walk to the left upon exiting the airport you’ll come to the metro entrance. Take the Yellow line to Pantitlán station, transfer to the Brown line, and head to Patriotismo station. We’re a 7 min walk from that station. You’ll need to buy a metro card ($20 mxn), and load it up with at least $5 mxn. Then just tap the card to ride. $25 mxn is about $1.40 usd.
Sure! We have a small shop area, and can try and find space in there to sell work. We do a 30% commission on merch type stuff, and 40% commission on original art. Just let us know ahead of time. Smaller stuff works best.
