3-Week long artist residency in Mexico City

Where we’re located:
Nestled in the lush and vibrant Hipódromo Condesa neighborhood, our modern art hotel, gallery, and studio space serve as an oasis for creativity in the heart of Mexico City’s thriving art scene. The area is brimming with galleries, studios, and an array of eclectic restaurants, offering endless inspiration and discovery opportunities throughout your stay.

About the residency:
Our residency is dedicated to providing a thoughtfully curated, welcoming space where international artists can immerse themselves in creation while experiencing the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Mexico City. We aim to foster cross-cultural connections by introducing resident artists to local curators, galleries, and fellow creators, creating an atmosphere that encourages artistic growth and collaboration across borders.

We have cultivated relationships with local artisans skilled in diverse disciplines, including oil painting, acrylics, watercolors, ceramics, music technology, creative writing, sculpture, collage, screen printing, lithography, and more. As part of the residency, artists will have the opportunity to participate in two workshops led by these local experts, with the option to engage in additional workshops for a small fee.

To further enrich the residency experience, we offer guided tours of the city’s historical landmarks, museums, national galleries, and parks. For those seeking exploration beyond the city, our partners provide excursions to the awe-inspiring pyramids, the picturesque Pueblo Mágicos, the serene Xochimilco canals, and scenic hiking trails.

During their residency, artists will work toward a group exhibition, hosted in our main gallery space, #Hashtag Gallery, during the final week of their stay. The exhibition runs from Thursday to Saturday. We also offer an option for artists to extend their stay by an additional week to continue creating or explore more of the city’s artistic offerings.

Each artist also has the unique opportunity to leave a lasting mark on our gallery by contributing a 6”x8” piece to the gallery’s permanent collection. We will produce a limited edition (20 prints) two-color screen print of this artwork, with 60% of the sales proceeds going directly to the artist, offering a chance to help recoup residency fees.

We provide:

• Welcome dinner for residency participants.
• Spacious private accommodation in our art hotel, equipped with a personal workspace.
• Shared access to a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and dining area.
• Full access to a communal studio space.
• A curated group exhibition at the end of the residency, showcasing works created during the program.
• Complimentary workshops with local artists (two workshops included).
• Group critique session with a professional curator.
• Organized gallery and art tours to local cultural spaces.
• Optional excursions with a professional tour guide (additional cost).
• Opportunities to contribute to our permanent gallery collection, including a limited-edition screen print series (Ed. of 20) of the artist’s work, available for sale in our shop with a 40% commission to the gallery.

Optional:

Each artist contributes 1 small piece of art, approximately 6″x8″ for the residency permanent collection.
We will produce a 2 colour screen print (Ed. of 20) from that work.*

These prints will be sold in our shop with a 40% commission on sales to the gallery.

*Artist may create a different design for the print if they wish.
